Perfect Preparation & Application

Once you’ve made your final decision on finish and colour, it’s time to move on to the practical stage of your painting project. From surface preparation to choosing the right tools for flawless application, our tips will guide you every step of the way to help you create a space that truly reflects your style.

Surface Preparation

Proper preparation is essential to achieving the best possible result with your chosen colour and finish.

  • Make sure the surface to be painted is clean, completely dry, and in good condition, free of grease, mould, or residue

  • Repair and seal any major imperfections (holes, cracks, open joints) before painting

The Farrow & Ball System

Our paint colours are renowned for their depth, complexity, and exceptional response to light. To achieve an even, long-lasting finish, we recommend following the Farrow & Ball system:

  • One coat of our Primer & Undercoat in the recommended tone

  • Two coats of your chosen finish

For certain surfaces, including newly plastered or newly drywalled walls, we recommend applying one diluted coat of your chosen Farrow & Ball finish, followed by two full coats.

To ensure the best results, it’s important to allow the recommended drying time between coats. Drying times are listed on each product’s page but may vary depending on factors such as temperature, humidity, and the shade being applied.
